Red Mesa at dawn, by Barry Duncan
Brothers,
First and foremost, we want to extend a warm welcome to the 129 men initiated in MROPs that took place in Scotland, Illinois and Australia this July and August. We’re honored to have you join our circle of spiritual journeymen and look forward to continuing to build our community with you, shoulder to shoulder.
In other news, we are pleased to announce that starting September 1st, Richard’s new book, On the Threshold of Transformation: Daily Meditations for Men, will be available for purchase online. We’re excited to present this collection of 366 concise reflections that over the manageable timeline of one year offer men perspectives on pain in our lives and the process of transforming it. The book’s site, www.onthethresholdbook.com, launches on September 1st and will offer more information about the book and how to order a copy.
In last month's Drumbeat, we invited initiated men to volunteer their time to help us get Red Mesa off the ground in an exciting new chapter in the CAC’s history. While we have been blessed to have several men participate in the July 29-31 and August 22-28 work camps, the overall turnout so far falls considerably short of what we had hoped for. Your energy and enthusiasm are sorely needed at Red Mesa—energy and enthusiasm to help create the facilities for experiential programs like men’s and women’s rites of passage, the Navaho Churro sheep program, and other initiatives under development. Click here to learn more about what’s available to you—and your families.
Even as you receive this, Fr. Richard and I are connecting with men in the Czech Republic, Austria and the United Kingdom who are sharing their spiritual journeys with us. What a humbling opportunity it’s been! We are all part of the One Body of God and it’s good to be a part of this together.
Peace,
