Dear Friends,
Within our men’s work, Richard has prepared a number of talks for the Beloved Sons Series to support men on their spiritual journeys (Men and Power, Men and Grief, etc).
Well, though we don’t have a talk on Men and Sweat, we now have an opportune moment to EXPERIENCE this aspect of our masculine spirituality.
In last month’s Drumbeat, we shared some of the exciting developments occurring at the Red Mesa Property. The dwelling on the recently purchased property needs some renovations as does the corral area and other support aspects of the property.
The idea is to have the property ready by year’s end so that we can start offering some retreats/programs/Intensives to small groups of men and women in 2011. That is an ambitious timeline even without the news of the Najavo Churro sheep.
Yes, sheep! It’s a long story, but quite an exciting one. The Holy Spirit appears to be guiding the direction on 200 of these sheep coming to make their home at Red Mesa at the beginning of October. The Churro sheep are to the Navajo what the buffalo were and are to the Plains Indians—sacred animals that form an integral part of community livelihood and tradition. The Churros have almost become extinct in the last 30 years and WE get to be a part of helping them grow in number once again. We know that these sheep have a great deal to teach us.
YOU are needed to help create these homes—for the sheep and for those who will come, we hope for generations, to be spiritually nourished at Red Mesa. How can you help? Here are a few ways:
This is just the beginning of what is to come. We want and need you to be engaged. THANK YOU for being excited with us and we will continue to provide you with updates and new developments.
Peace,
Stephen
