Before we had modern novels, psychology, and theology, people told spiritual truths through myths and stories. In the West, our classic myth is Homer’s Odyssey. To last 2,700 years, this great work is clearly mining from a deeper level of soul.
In this webcast, Richard Rohr will share themes and metaphors from The Odyssey that clearly speak to people today, of our own obstacles, and of the call to “a further journey” beyond the conquering of Troy and sailing across dark waters to defeat enemies. What is this further journey, and to what does it invite all of us?
You will see that old myths are not old at all! Although Homer was writing from the male perspective and we offer this as wisdom for males on Father’s Day, women and youth will also find this material very exciting for, and a catalyst for reframing, their lives.
